sFont is an application that allows you to easily view different fonts. Any person, who has been in the need of preparing a presentation, a text, a flyer, an advertisement, etc., has realized the difficulties of trying out different fonts and sizes without ruining your text. The purpose of sFont is to allow you to preview quickly and easily how your text may look like when applying different fonts and sizes to it.
This application scans the font files installed in the system's "Fonts" folder. (It is important to note that sFont is not a font manager, but a font viewer and organizer.) It then displays a list with every font available, giving you the option of filtering the list by All, TrueType, or Not TrueType. Furthermore, it lets you add selected fonts to a favorites list, so that you will always have your preferred fonts at hand.
When a font is selected, three other tabs become available. The “View tab” will give you a preview of the font. You can use it with the program’s default text or insert your own text to get a more realistic view of how it will look like. The “CharMap tab” will show you, as its name implies, a map of all the available characters that that font can manage. By clicking on any of them, a large version of the character will appear on top of the map for a more detailed look. Last but not least, the “Zoom tab” will show you how default text looks like using the select font in its different sizes - they will appear all in the same page, with the purpose of helping you compare all sizes at once. more
